Royal Australian Navy HF Frequencies

ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY (RAN)

AUSTRALIAN NAVY HF FREQUENCIES  |  AUSTRALIAN NAVY VESSELS  & CALLSIGNS  |  AUSTRALIAN NAVY BASES  |

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) uses the MHFCS for HF ship to shore communications.

There are, however, other HF frequencies registered to RAN-specific broadcast sites throughout Australia which are used by the Navy. These are listed below. Be aware that RAN also uses MHFCS and it's discrete frequencies.

The majority of traffic is on VCN 3, however all circuits are H24 operation and (generally) higher frequencies are used during daylight hours, and lower frequencies at night. (AUSTRALIA IS GMT+10)

MHFCS FREQUENCIES

VCN CIRCUIT DIAL FREQUENCY HOURS OF OPERATION
VCN 1 22868 KHz H24
VCN 2 5878 KHz H24
VCN 3 9047 KHz H24
VCN 4 15962 KHz H24
VCN 5 12172 KHz H24

The following are the frequencies registered to RAN broadcast sites (not part of MHFCS infrastructure) - some are ITU maritime channels. The RAN A1 - A7 are the old, pre-MHFCS, system channels.

See our MHFCS frequencies page for more discreet frequencies.

If you hear anything on the RAN frequencies please drop me a line so the database can be updated.

(These are the assigned frequencies, not dial frequencies. You must adjust your receiver frequency depending on the receiving mode. )
To find the dial freq for USB subtract half of the bandwidth from the emission designator
- e.g. 2.1464 MHz 2K80J3E would be dial freq 2.145 USB
