New Zealand 4WD Radio
Network
The New
Zealand 4WD Radio Network, similar to the Australian VKS737 network, is
a HF radio network for safety and general and emergency communications.
It is primarily used by 4WD enthusiasts whilst travelling in remote
areas of the country where mobile phone and CB/PRS coverage is
inadequate. Transceivers operate on 100 W PEP.
This is a controlled network with several bases around the country. The network allows for Selcall, Telcall, GPS tracking, and SMS to email via HF.
